Serissa

Serissa japonica

A miniature shrub that produces lots of tiny green leaves bordered with a cream edging. Easily maintained to fit in a small space, this is a perfect plant for Bonsai shaping. They even produce rose-shaped miniature flowers a couple of times a year!

Lighting: Requires bright light with as much direct sun as you can give it.

Watering: If the top inch or so of soil has dried, it is ready to be watered. When you water, try to get an even coverage over the roots and soil, allowing water to flow out from the bottom of the pot to ensure a good soaking.

Tip: Prefers higher humidity. These plants can be dramatic with changes in environment and will often drop their leaves if they have too much water, too little water, if it’s too hot or too cold, if they are moved, or if there is a shift in lighting or temperature. When this happens, continue to care for them as normal and they will regrow their leaves and recover.
